Hawa Mahal
The most visited site in Jaipur, receiving tourists around the year from all over the world, the Hawa Mahal is an excellent foundation of 5 stories in painted in the shades of pink.
Delicately crafted and designed, the Hawa Mahal was constructed in the year 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. History has it that the Hawa Mahal was founded for the women belonging to the royal stature and inhabiting the palace to witness the life outside and keep a check on the occurrences of the day.
Climb your way to the top floor, and you’ll be made to face the Jantar Mantar in all its power and beauty siding with the breathtaking view of the city palace. Look the other way, and you’ll see the stunning Sireh Deori bazaar full of life and lit with colors.
To get in touch with the regal history embedded in its artifacts and traditions, it would be a blasphemy not to visit the museum inside that houses painting depicting history and relics that have been saved for years – especially the ceremonial armor. The odd narrow corners and passages of the Hawa mahal offer the opportunity to connect with the architectural wonders of the Maharajas’ era. Every Jaipur trip is incomplete without a visit to the unique Hawa Mahal – which is truly one of its kind!
