Cochin the queen of the Arabian Sea is one of the most interesting cities of India and has one of the finest natural harbors in the world. Places, palaces and institutions of historic value are being preserved conscientiously.

Showcasing quintessentially magnificent vignettes of Kerala’s rich cultural traditions, Kaleidoscope Kerala is essentially an exclusive, uniquely choreographed repertoire of live classical dance and music performed in a heritage theatre with legendary ritualistic folk invocations and martial arts. It is a medley of many authentic dances of Kerala, especially the sheer splendor of a magical rendezvous with the languid, mellifluously lyrical and graceful Mohiniattam, dance of the enchantress – exquisitely devotional for some, sublimely sensual for others; the rigorously codified majestic spectacle of Kathakali, Kerala’s trademark dance drama instantly recognizable for its dazzling regalia and trance-inducing rhythms, the stunningly totemic and surreally oracular manifestation of the divine in the folk tradition of Theyyam, among a breathtaking mélange of inimitable performing art forms accompanied by soul-stirring ensembles of pristine musical genres, dominated by the mesmerizing roll of the ‘demonic’ drum, chenda.”Return to your hotel. I hope you’ve had some good rest from the high level babysitting. J Back to reality & gotta say, dreaming about the next vacation. Take care & talk to you again soon….

I was just editing our Indian photos and thought I should write you a few words of thanks for a great trip. I can't start to imagine the amount of time and effort that went into organizing and creating such a successful and wonderful experience, and I know you played a major part in that. Your negotiations with the Indian government, prior to our trip, to simplify the visa process and your many flights ahead of us, during the trip , to make sure things flowed smoothly were recognized and much appreciated. The India trip was the longest and most expensive trip we have taken and we knew it would be special. Everything, from the accommodations, food and experiences exceeded our expectations. Many of us commented during the trip "it just keeps getting better". This was not just intended to be a sightseeing trip but a trip to experience India, and we experienced things that most people visiting India would never experience. The three days in Kashmir was a lovely way to end the trip. It is a beautiful part of the country and quite different from the rest of India. In spite of it's proximity to Pakistan, heavy security and strong military presence, people seemed happy, relaxed, peaceful and very friendly. We felt very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Thanks again Nazir for helping make this a trip of a lifetime. Looking forward to seeing you again on future trips.

Dear Nazir, Not having travelled on a tour prior to this trip, Brian and I were a bit concerned about how the itinerary would work for the two of us who tend to be rather "foot loose and fancy-free”. Our interaction with you and Mandira, while arranging our tour, was very positive, so we were quite hopeful that the tour would be just right for us. Brian and I appreciated your attention to detail, to making sure our needs were met and especially your pre-trip phone call to answer any questions we had. Our positive interaction with Explore India continued with all the staff throughout India. Our first meeting with knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly Rajeev who so competently managed all the details throughout the tour and Harry, our erudite, articulate and enthusiastic guide quickly dispelled any concerns we had. Our drivers were quite wonderful, as they took us through the hectic crowded streets of Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, and Varanasi, and through the rural roads that were crowded with oxen and other animals, keeping us safe at all times. Our assistants, in particular, Amid, were charming, taking great care of us and always providing us with much needed cold water whenever we came back to the bus. Our tour was a small group, and we quickly meddled into a cohesive group, enjoying each other’s company and sharing in the delight of exploring northern India together. The tour suited us perfectly, no name tags to wear other than the first morning when we were introduced to each other, no flags to follow, rather just a group of travellers exploring together. The Impressions of India tour was extremely well organized and the itinerary provided us with the opportunity to see the majority of historical sites in the cities and rural areas we visited. India’s history is complex and the tour and Harry our guide provided us with many insights into the past world and architecture of the Mugals, Rajputs, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists as well as providing many insights into modern India. All of the sites we visited were both impressive and moving, however, none more so that the shimmering beauty of the Taj Mahal in Agra. While we found the cities fascinating, the countryside and its people were more interesting to both of us. A request to stop by the roadside so that I could photograph the women working in the fields turned into an incredible opportunity to stop at a tiny village where we were able to interact with some of the villagers. I think the villagers were as intrigued with us as we were with them. I was very honored to be given a wee, naked baby girl to hold by a shy young mother. Throughout our trip, we continued to have opportunities to interact with the local people, which was a pleasure for all of us. It was quite interesting that in the rural areas, we were considered exotic, and as a result, a number of the locals asked us if they could take photos of us with their children. It didn’t seem to matter that our Hindi was limited to please and thank you and our only Urdu was thank you, or that many people we interacted with had no English, we were able to communicate with smiling eyes and with joy and appreciation for all the children we encountered. A highlight for all of us was an unplanned stop at a government-sponsored school in rural Rajasthan. We arrived just as the whole school, from kindergarten to high school was meeting in the hot, dusty centre courtyard. The children and teachers were thrilled to meet us and we were equally thrilled to meet them. We were introduced individually, including our occupations (or former occupations) and treated with much respect, especially Brian as a former principal, and Tina as a former mathematics teacher. Our decision to sing Oh Canada was completely spontaneous and utterly moving as the nine of us sang with great pride our national anthem to a rapt audience of students and teachers. Three teenage girls then sang the Indian national anthem with sweet young voices again to a rapt audience of staff, students, and Canadians. All too soon it was time to say goodbye as the students returned to their classrooms and we headed off to continue our exploring. Our hotels were luxurious with wonderfully attentive staff. The food was excellent wherever we were with a variety of curries and Indian specialties available at every meal. There was nothing better than freshly baked naan with each and every meal. Street vendors had small carts with the most interesting and delectable food offerings and as our stomachs grew accustomed to the Indian diet, and with our guide Harry’s direction, we were able to try some local specialties including deep fried vegetarian balls dipped into a spicy cilantro sauce, crispy potato samosas, refreshing plan in Varanasi, local sweets, and masala chai made with camel milk at a small remote tea stand. Indian culture is very different than our own and it was important to us that we not judge the people and their ways through our Western eyes but rather just let ourselves experience all that India had to offer. India is a rich and vibrant country that provided us with the most fascinating multi-sensory experiences and gave us just a small glimpse into its world and its warm and welcoming people. We feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to have been there and feel equally fortunate to have found your Explore India company which provided us with such an incredible variety of experiences in a short period of time. We definitely could not have seen as much as we did without your fascinating itinerary. Returning home to a very rainy October, we are already thinking of returning to India, and of course, when we do, we will definitely be in touch to book another trip with you. With warm regards and much appreciation,

Hello Nazir. We got back from our trip to India on March 1st. Just as you promised, we had a fabulous and amazing trip, and are so glad we went! Thank you so much for making the arrangements for us. I hope your trip there went as well as ours did. I also wanted to let you know what a great job our guide Sundeep Singh did on behalf of Explore India. I cannot understate how much his presence added to the enjoyment of our trip, and that of our fellow travellers. First of all his knowledge of all things India was amazing. He told us all we could possibly want in understandable lay man’s terms about the history of your country, but he also surprised us with his knowledge of even minute details about all the flora and fauna we came across. I’m not surprised he is working towards his PHD in history. In addition, his professionalism and demeanor towards all of his “respected guests” was top notch. He always gave clear and concise directions to our group, and knew how give them to us in a “just in time” fashion rather than bombarding us with information before we needed it. This is not an easy thing to do with as large a group as ours was. He was always able to do this in a professional yet down to earth fashion. Sundeep was also able to make the quick hard decisions when the situation warranted it, so they did not become group debates. He was also always on guard for our safety and security, and he always found good clean restaurants for us that served “yummy” food, and stopped at restrooms that were as clean as possible. Thank you again for such a wonderful experience. It would be appreciated if you could pass on our feedback to Sundeep, and let him how much his services added to the enjoyment of our trip. I have already passed your name and company information on to some of our friends, with a strong recommendation for them to follow us and go Explore India. I wish you and your company well in the future. Sincerely,

Hi Nazir, Sorry for the delay in responding...what with getting back on PST and dealing with Christmas it has been pretty hectic. We very much enjoyed the trip. It was not always easy but it was an adventure and a great education. India is really an amazing country! I have been trying to come up with some suggestions for your trip but I don't really have any. I thought the trip was well organized and went pretty smoothly considering all the ground we covered and the challenges of travelling in India. And of course the currency crisis added to the difficulties. I would definitely recommend the trip to anyone who wants to see India. If I have any further thoughts I will let you know. Regards

Dear Nazir Karnai, President of Explore India, This note is to heartily thank the Explore India Staff (EI) of Rajeev Sharma, Head of Operations, Mendura by telephone, our main driver & assistant, and other drivers and personnel who assisted us for Explore India. When Canadians say, ‘nothing was too much trouble’, we may sometimes exaggerate, but in the case of EI, nothing could have been more apt and honest. No detail was too small, from our initial bookings and EI contacts by telephone to the ease we felt through each thread of the trip. Our destination was India, but our journey was irreplaceable. I would not hesitate to highly recommend EI to anyone who asks and will do so as I write my freelance piece and attach it to my blog (charlesbeale.com). Thank you. My gratitude and I believe I can speak for the whole group, would not be complete without further thanks to our EI tour guide, Harry Singh, but in this response, I will only speak for myself. Harry taught me many things. He and India are delightful enigmas. Not only was he the best tour guide I have ever had, but he became a kind of personal guru, banker, time manager, and friend. Tour guides come and go, but Harry lives and breathes his beloved India so much so that some of that rubbed off on each and every one of us. In fact, there were times when we had to rein him in, such was his enthusiasm. Harry describes himself as a spiritual healer, and again, some of that personal belief affected us most strongly and positively. He became our personal banker due to the demonetization that began just as we arrived in the country. Without his purse, some of us would have been in dire straits; without his knowledge of how to manage the monetary change, we would have become nervous travellers. Although we sometimes worried about time, as many Westerners do, Harry was able to manage India time for us smoothly and in an unruffled manner. He is also the best-dressed tour guide I have ever encountered. In the end, as the peaceful and kind people of India showed us, Harry was able to deepen our meaning of empathy and love. I would, however, request that in future, Harry assigns more tourists to keep the ledgers for the counting of other than cows. Most sincerely yours,
Charles Beale

A wonderful experience, you made good choices for our itinerary. The hotels were great, the guides were full of knowledge. The greenhouse resort amazing, perhaps an extra night there would be a great addition, the palace in Deoghar could have an extra night too! The marigold hotel was a truly fantastic experience, one I'll never forget. Tell Rajeev it was a memorable trip. He took great care getting us to and from airport, we really appreciated the extra effort.

Hi Nazir, Sorry, it has taken me so long to reply, we really felt the jet-lag on our return! We were very happy with our experiences with Explore India. It was a fantastic trip, we learned a lot and had a lot of fun with our fellow travellers. We started the trip with an extension to Nepal. Our guide, Bikash, was a very caring man. When he found out it was our anniversary he had the hotel deliver a cake to our room. Bikash was also very supportive of one of the members of our tour who had unfortunately picked the wrong visa for India (single entry) and could not get on the plane with us to return to India. Bikash actually purchased his new plane ticket because the ATM's would not work for our fellow traveller. The sites of Nepal were amazing, in particular, the cremations on the river and when we toured a local village we actually got to go into a local school - this was very exciting because 6 of the 7 tourists were former teachers! The tour of India was really complete due to the amazing knowledge of our guide, Sundeep. Sundeep was an excellent story teller and helped weave an amazing knowledge of India, its history and the present day conditions. We were fortunate to be able to participate in many Diwali celebrations, especially in Varanasi where we saw some amazing sites. We would recommend Explore India for any of our friends. The hotel accommodations were all terrific, the tours went smoothly and we were always supported by our guides. It was an amazing experience and one we will cherish forever. Thank you

Namaste! We had an incredible trip, and was far more than we could have ever expected, Rajeev and Yajur I know that is spelt wrong, made the trip as smooth as could be. The whole trip was fantastic, great programme, the only down side was the air quality, and was such a shame that the Ganges was so fogged in we did not see the morning sunset. Susan and I with the rest of the group were so lucky to see the Siberian Tiger not just once but twice. Thanks again for such a wonderful programme to see Incredible India. You certainly have a great set up, Merry Christmas and Happy 2016

Hello Nazir: Thank you for phoning today to enquire about our recent trip to India. I wanted to let you know that it was a wonderful trip. I felt like I was away for a month. We saw and learned so many things about India. The trip covered many interesting sights and sites – the wild tiger – the elephant ride (never again – I saw them running free in Kenya) – the temples – the pedicab ride in Old Delhi – the Mahatma Gandhi Museum – the history of India as told by our guide, Sandeep Sing. Sandeep was a wonderful, caring person with a wealth of knowledge whose contribution enhanced the trip. The group we travelled with were all lovely people. The hotels were wonderful – the food was wonderful – it was a great trip. I particularly admired the Delhi drivers – what wonderful, patient people they were. Our bus driver was an amazing driver – we never felt in danger. In Delhi, we felt very well cared for by Rajeet. I would recommend this trip to anyone I speak to. Sincerely,
Ebba Grey

A rating of 10 out of 10 does not adequately reflect the level of the experience and value of the tour that we provide to India especially for the first time visitors. Explore India’s success can be traced all the way back to those early days of learning what it means to be a host and to this day, our motto is to treat the guest like a member of the family.
